I recently had to see the Doctor because I was depressed and anxious. I saw Dr Thomas and found him to be very easy to talk to,very supportive and extremely helpful to me in helping me with my mental health issues. There has been a great deal of negative comments recently about the quality of care for those suffering mental health issues in this country but my experience was of a proactive system that saw me through a very difficult period in my life. I am aware of all of the time restrictions placed on GP,s today but Dr Thomas made me feel that my problems were important and that my opinions concerning my treatment were also important. I do find it difficult to get through on the telephone to make an appointment and sometimes also find it very difficult to get an appointment without taking time off work.

Response from The Manor Practice

Thank you for your kind comments regarding your recent appointment with Dr Thomas. With regards the difficulty in getting through on the telephone and problems getting an appointment, we have recently reviewed our appointment system and are now offering more pre-bookable slots so that patient's do not have to call "on the day" - We hope this will help improve access to appointments. We also have on-line slots which can be booked from home - Please contact reception to find out how to register for this service. Many thanks -Pauline Atkinson (Assistant Practice Manager)

I was staying with my daughter on holiday when I started to feel very ill. I saw a doctor at The Manor Practice who was extremely kind and helpful and sent me for tests at the local hospital. I also had blood tests and an ECG at the surgery. All the staff, doctor, nurse and receptionists were professional and helpful. The sugery was very busy but no one waited more than a few minutes to be seen. Efficient but friendly and reassuring atmosphere.

I attended the Manor Practice today in order to see the Practice Nurse Lisa. From the moment I arrived I found all the staff from the receptionists to Lisa to be so friendly, welcoming and very caring. Although my procedure was a minor one, Lisa took the time to thoroughly explain what was going to happen and what to expect. In no time at all I was finished and the whole experience was totally painless and expertly carried out, thank you. In this day and age of ever increasing demands on the services of the NHS and the almost daily sensationalist stories of poor service in the NHS, from certain sections of the media, I feel most fortunate to be a patient of the Manor Practice, who, despite the pressure I'm sure they are under, always manage to be friendly, helpful and very professional. Lastly I would like to mention the physical environment at the practice. The building is modern, light, airy and always looks spotless. Keep up the good work.

I have been registered at The Manor Practice for 27 years and have always been very pleased with the excellent care I receive there. I only go to the doctor when I really need to and consequently have a shopping basket of conditions that need seeing to. Today was such a day and I saw Doctor Hancock who could not have been more friendly and helpful. I received very reassuring news about the first problem; a promise that my medication would be changed for another; and a blood test arranged for the third. Until today I was unaware of this site and cannot finish this review without mentioning Dr. Cressey. I saw Dr. Cressey for the first time about a month ago when I was having chest pains. She gave up over an hour of her time to get me checked out and worked well into her lunch break. She told me that I should not drive and telephoned my wife at her workplace to ask if she could pick me up. I had to see Dr. Cressey again a few days later, as I was continuing to have chest pains, and she quickly arranged for me to be seen at the hospital. I would also like to thank the nurses and reception staff who are also true professionals. Words are not enough to do justice to this surgery.

Every Doctor, Nurse, Receptionist (all staff members) are true professionals at The Manor Practice. You are always greeted with a smile and a very helpful, friendly, manner regardless of your reason for visiting the surgery. Every staff member genuinely has time for you, and they always listen to you. The surgery is always clean and you rarely, if ever have to wait long to be seen. I simply can't praise all the staff enough, they are the NHS finest. Thank you all.
